EDITO #71 | July-August 2023

There is no better season than summer to take part in festivals, discover Urban Art hot spots and check out new walls in cities and neighbourhoods you already know… Year after year, Street Art has become a destination in its own right.
Here are some spots you could tick on your roadmap this summer: LayUp Season 3 at the Garage in Toulouse, Seth se la joue at the Musée en Herbe in Paris, the MACO in Sète, Street Art City in Lurcy-Levis or the picturesque village of Grimaud. Street Art has moved to its summer quarters.
Go now to see these murals which are ephemeral by nature, with a lifespan or visibility that is sometimes limited to just a few months or even a few weeks. Collages rarely last longer than a summer, or even a few days, sometimes only until the next storm passes through. The preservation of these ephemeral works will allow Street Art to indelibly mark Art History.
But history is also a succession of highlights and crises. In Las Vegas, skip the roulette and poker tables and other one-armed bandits and go check out the murals on the Strip and the Land Art works that adorn the neighbouring desert. Stronger emotions are guaranteed than those experienced upon hearing the fateful “Rien ne va plus!”
On the talents side, we met up with street artists with unique styles: Maye with his poetic and surrealist characters taking hold of the Garage in Toulouse next September; Judith De Leeuw, a rising star of the Dutch scene, who has gone from being in the shadows to the limelight with his monumental socially-engaged murals; CREN and his graffiti inspirations tinged with Pop Art; FanSack and his mix of spirituality and pop culture; Zeso and his creative effervescence against the consumer society.
In July, your magazine is evolving. A new online shop will be available, making it possible to renew your print subscription via our Android or IOS app. There, you will also find the complete archives of GraffitiART (71 magazines, 8 guides), including past issues now out of stock.
